The HOVERAir X1 Pro Beacon Reviewed by Wayne Louie 

The current price at the time of writing is $258.00.  

If you already own the HOVERAir X1  Pro or ProMax then the X1 Pro Beacon is the perfect companion.  The beacon allows you take your X1 Pro or ProMax to the next level of flying.   

Prep

Most likely, as soon as you power up the beacon you’ll be greeted with a message to upgrade the firmware.  ZeroZero Robotics has done a great job with pushing out a lot of updates for the whole X1 lineup and at the time of this review my beacon was updated to firmware version V2.1.3. 

Why You Want It

Personally I love the using the pre-made modes like Follow, Side Track, Cycling Mode and more.  But occasionally I also like taking full control over the drone and that’s where the Beacon and Joystick come in.    

Different Ways To Use The Beacon

  • Beacon Stand Alone

    Yes, if you need to, you can fly your X1 with just the beacon. Flying it by the beacon alone is handy but is also limited. When using just the beacon you won't be able to fly in a direction and turn at the same time. To turn you'll need to stop first, change direction then continue flying.

  • Beacon + Right Module

    Connecting the right module to the beacon enables one stick flying. Now, you'll have more control with fluid navigation. Pull the trigger and move the beacon forward, backwards and up and down without stopping to adjust direction.

  • Beacon + Right and Left Module

    Now, you have total control! With this setup you can pull down the sides of the right and left module and connect your cellphone as a monitor while flying.

The Good

The HOVERAir X1 Pro Beacon makes an already great drone even more more fun to fly! It has a 1.78″ OLED touchscreen.  It’s module with a right and left joystick which gives you 3 extra ways to fly. 

The Bad

The display is a little small but you can also connect it to your cellphone for a much larger display. 

Overall

ZeroZero Robotics has gone all out with the new X1 Pro lineup and is now my go to drone for both aerial shots in my reviews and just flying for fun.
