The Inmotion Lineup
In motion has a lot of EUCs to choose from. For more advanced riders they have their V14 all the way down to their V5 which is good for first time riders like me.
Inmotion V8S
Today we are focusing on the V8S and since I’m new to ECUs, Inmotion was also kind enough to send me a cover to help with scratches in case I fall or drop the EUC. This cover is available on their website.
Get Ready, Get Set, Go!
Other than sticking the ankle protective pads onto the EUC there was nothing left to do but charge it up and start trying to learn how to ride it.
Leaning to Ride – First Approach
I took two different approaches when it came to learning how to ride. My first attempt was to gear up and hang onto a pair of trash cans and go. This didn’t work so well.
Learning to Ride – Second Approach
My second approach was a lot more helpful. I used a few tips I found online to help me get started. First, with the EUC turned on I placed my dominant foot which is my right foot onto the right pedal. My left foot is on the ground and parallel to my foot on the pedal. Next, I practiced controlling the EUC by making the EUC go forward and backwards. This helps with knowing how to control the EUC later when you’re actually riding it.
Learning to Ride – Riding With Help.
Some people used things like fences and cars and even their friends to help get a feel of riding with both feet. I definitely would say to find or something you can hang onto but I wouldn’t suggest a friend or a car. This is because if you do lose control of the EUC it could turn right into the friend or car, spinout and cause damage so I’d stay away from these two options. For me, I used a wooden fence and gloves to protect my hands from splinters. I know I should have been wearing more protective gear but I was really taking it slow and leaning on that fence for support. However, the better I got I did wear the gear because at higher speeds you’ll need to wear the gear to keep safe. At first I pretty much hung onto the fence while I just traveled back and forth, little by little I got brave enough to let go of the fence for longer periods. Surprisingly, the learning curb was pretty quick. Next thing I knew I was riding back and forth without grabbing the fence, so I took it onto an area of cement in our backyard and I tried riding there. I was surprised how after a few tries of getting on the EUC I was able to ride it. I learned that turning is made possible by applying more weight on one side on the EUC.

Rough and Tough
The V8S is one rough and touch EUC. I managed to drop the V8S a lot but the V8S never had any issues. Inmotion put a lot of thought into building a machine that can take a beating. Damage to the EUC was very minimal. Most of the damage was only to the pedals and they were only scratched. I think the cover that iNMotion sent me also helped to protect the body and it did a great job.
While I was learning to ride, whenever I felt that I was going to lose total control I just got off and let it go. It spun out and hit the ground pretty hard a few times but besides a few scratches nothing broke. If not for the cover the body would have been a lot more scratched up. I’d say the pedals took most of the beating but even they survived the drops.
Leaning to Ride – Total Time
After two to three hours spread out over a few days of practicing I tried the open road and it went surprisingly well.
I live on a pretty wide street at the end of a cul-de-sac and at first I stayed there and did a few circles and once I felt comfortable I took it down the street and back up with no problems. Now, it’s time to wear all the protective gear, and have some fun!
I still have a ways to go to being a better rider, but now that I am getting the hang of it, I’m having a lot of fun with it!

The Good
This is my first experience with an EUC and that might make it a little hard to compare it to others but I can still say that it’s built well and addicting. It can take a lot of abuse, it’s responsive, and easy to ride. It’s a great first time rider EUC.
The Bad
Nothing at the time.
Overall
My first experience with the Inmotion EUC was full of fun and excitement. Speaking from a first time rider point of view, the V8S was easy to learn how to ride and I’d recommend it to anyone thinking about getting one for their first EUC.
