Hovsco HovAlpha – Fun to Ride and Exercise Ready!
Similarities to Other E-Bikes
It has a 750w brushless motor, a 960wh – 48v – 20Ah battery, 26″ x 4″ fat tires with hydraulic disc brakes.
The HovAlpha Difference
First let’s start with the battery. While the battery is similar to other e-bike batteries for a bike in its price range, the battery also included an LED light strip! Yes, an LED light strip that can help you our a lot if you encounter problems like a flat time at night or maybe you just need an emergency light. Unlock the battery, pop it out and right there on its belly is the light strip (see video review to see it in action. It has three levels of brightness and a final press of a button will activate its emergency blinking light.
Second, it has an awesome torque sensor. The torque sensor on the HovAlpha measures how much power you are putting into the pedals, and adjust the power assist accordingly. This gives the bike a very natural feel and the assist is not over powering. This way, you get both a pleasant ride and exercise at the same time.
Who Is The HovAlpha For?
Anybody looking to have fun with casual riding along with those that would like to also incorporate exercise. Yes, with the way the torque works on this bike you may getting around on it is still easier than a traditional non motorize bike but you’ll also find yourself a little out of breath quicker than you might on other e-bikes. For me, I like the way this bike rides and how the torque works. I appreciate the assist from the motor but the workout I get from the torque sensor. And if I get too tired to pedal I can throttle all the way back home.

The Good
The Hovsco HovAlpha is a great bike for commuting as well as some light off-road riding. Due to its torque sensor it will fare better with riders looking to get some exercise too. The LED light strip on the battery is a helpful tool in case you run into problems like a flat tire while riding at night. The HovAlpha is also a great looking bike which is due partly to the beautiful paint job and smoothed out weld marks. This e-bike comes with an app and this is something I like a lot. It tells me that the company has gone an extra step to make my riding experience complete.
The Bad
If all you want to do is ride the throttle and not get any exercise this bike is not for you. While I don’t see this as a bad thing I can see how some may look elsewhere for an easier to ride e-bike.
