Aventon’s Single Speed Soltera

From First View to Follow Up
Following up my “First Look” video review of the new Aventon Soltera from last month, I now dive into a hands on review of the single speed Soltera.  Aventon has generously sent me their brand new single speed Soltera in Azure Blue.  As with most e-bikes, the Soltera came in a box and most of it was already put together.  About twenty minutes after unboxing the bike I had the handlebars, pedals and front tire installed and was ready for my first ride.   This bike is smooth! Or as one of my friends would say “it’s buttery smooth”.  The Soltera is also very quiet and one of the easiest bikes I’ve ever ridden.  All my e-bikes are 8-speed or 21-speed and found this single speed e-bike to be more than adequate for getting around.  The Soltera is only 41 pounds making it easy to ride with or without power assist, carrying and mounting to a bike rack provided your bike rack is able to carry the 41 pound payload. This is a class 2 e-bike, meaning through power assist the bike will reach up to 20mph.  Aventon also claims that it should have a range up to 41 miles.  Of course that range will depend on how much you use power assist as well as a some other variable like your weight and if you’re riding uphill or flat land.

The Good
The Soltera comes in both a standard traditional frame and a step-throug as well as a single speed and a 7-speed. The addition of a two integrated brake lights is a welcomed feature. Also, the bike has the same beautiful, backlit display that comes with their high-powered Aventure e-bike.  Note, there is an Aventon phone app that works well with the bike display too. The Soltera is priced right for someone looking for a great commuter bike and screams Aventon’s Quality in things like a smooth, invisible welding points, beautifully painting frames, integrated brake lights and a comfortable ride.

Between the two types there are 6 different colors to choose from:

The Bad
I can only speak for the single-speed and I wouldn’t mind seeing a slightly beefier tire for better handling when on gravel.  Other than that I can’t find anything to complain about.

Overall
Now that I have the Soltera in hand to ride I can say it’s one of the best commuter bikes I have ever ridden.  It’s “buttery” smooth and very, very quiet and a head turner!  Yes, this bike has been loved by everyone that has seen it and ridden it.  Aventon hit this out of the park with the Soltera!
