Out Of The Box
Like most e-bikes the Pioneer by Actbest was fairly simple to assemble. Connect the handlebar, light, front tire and fender then, the pedals and finally the saddle. However, there is one important thing to watch for and that is when you install the front fender. When I originally installed it, I found that when I hit any dips like riding it back into my slightly angled driveway, that the bike would dip and the front fender would get stuck on the frame of the e-bike. This was not the fault of the bike but was a result of me improperly installing the front fender (see image).
Tip To Installing The Front Fender Correctly
Make sure when installing the front fender that the front part of the fender is mounted as high as possible and that the back side, where the nut goes, is as low as possible but still clears the tire (click on images for a closer look).
Class 3
The Pioneer is a class 3 e-bike and according to Actbest it can reach a top speed of 32mph. However, on my test rides (with a fully charged battery) I constantly hit 33mph before having to stop because of stop signs.
Class 3 Caution
Some places don’t allow class 3 e-bikes so make sure to check first and follow the laws.
Catch Me If You Can
From a dead stop it has a lot of power but you might not be the first off the line however, with a top speed of 32mph most others will find it hard to keep up with you. With 86nm of torque you won’t have trouble getting up hills.
Comfort
The Pioneer is equipped with front and rear suspension and is very comfortable when riding on paved streets. I did a little bit of off-road riding, both up and down hill and the suspension handled all of it just fine. It’s a heavy e-bike weighing in at 84.9 pounds but is packed with power to move it and suspension to keep you comfortable.

The Good
The Actbest Pioneer has a lot of power and can reach a top speed of 32mph (33mph for me). In addition to it’s power, the addition of dual suspension and fat knobby tires make it a lot of fun to ride on all terrains.
The Bad
The front fender on the Pioneer was a little tricky to install and I found the fender getting stuck on the frame of the bike several times before I was able to correctly get it installed (see my unboxing/assembly video for details on how to install it). It’s high speed will leave others in your dust however, I feel it could be a little faster off the line.
Overall
The Pioneer by Actbest is an oddly built bike but it works. At first glance I wasn’t sure if I liked it or hated it but I now that I’ve had it for a while I can safety say I love how it rides and looks. It’s different and I like it this way. It has a solid build and its dual suspension will keep you comfortable as well as handle some pretty rough terrain.
